Cat Cafe Nagontei

Cat Cafe Nagontei is a small cat cafe in a private house in Dohaku, Suzuka, which opened in 2009 and describes itself as the first cat cafe in Mie. The cats are rescues that live in the house, a group of resident cats plus kittens waiting for new families, and the cafe doubles as a permanent adoption venue. The house fits only seven or eight visitors at a time. Visits are charged per hour with one drink, such as coffee, tea or homemade yuzu sherbet, and extensions are charged per 30 minutes. Visits are by reservation by phone or email, children must be in the third year of elementary school or older, and pets and smoking are not allowed. Last entry is an hour before closing, the cafe is closed on Tuesdays and Fridays, and parking is limited to three cars.
