Canberra Street Cat Alliance
Canberra Street Cat Alliance is a volunteer-run cat rescue on Bellenden Street in Crace, in northern Canberra. In October 2026 it opened a coffee cart with doughnuts at its premises, alongside a thrift shop, Rescued and Re-homed, and a cat lovers' market. Volunteers bring in different cats and kittens each day, and visitors can sit with a coffee, watch them play and interact with them through their enclosures; kittens may come out when it isn't crowded. It isn't a paid session like a cat lounge, and its president says you aren't buying time with the cats. All proceeds go to the group, which rehomes street cats and runs a trap-neuter-return program. Its cats are desexed, microchipped and vaccinated, go to indoor-only homes or homes with a secure enclosure, and come with a two-week trial. It is open on Saturdays and Sundays.

Paw Haus is a rescue cat room and pet cafe on Liverpool Road in Enfield, near Burwood, where rescue cats and kittens wait for adoption upstairs. The ground-floor cafe, now run as The Gentle Bean, serves coffee, brunch dishes and a separate menu for dogs, and dogs enter from the rear lane. The cat cuddle room is charged by time and can be booked online or visited as a walk-in, and its cats come from rescue groups, mainly Kittie Kat Rescue, already desexed and vaccinated; more than a hundred have been adopted since the cafe opened in 2024. People who want to adopt on the day are asked for a walk-through video of their home, and cats go only to indoor homes. Under-10s need an adult with them. The same business runs a second cat room at its Bubble Bath dog wash in Wentworth Point.

Sydney, New South Wales147 mi / 237 km
Cat House & Co is a cat lounge, cat hotel and pet shop in the Marina Square shopping centre on Footbridge Boulevard at Wentworth Point, across the Bennelong Bridge from Rhodes. Visitors book 50-minute sessions with a drink in its indoor cat playground, where a group of resident purebred and mixed cats can be patted, played with and fed healthy treats. Each session starts with a short induction on the house rules, and shoes are changed and hands sanitised on entry. Visitors must be 5 or older, and children 12 and under need a paying adult with them; children pay a lower rate, and weekend and public holiday prices are slightly higher.
