BAR Cats in the Box

BAR ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌Cats in the Box is a late-night cat bar on the seventh floor of the Metro Building in Kabukicho, Shinjuku, about 5 minutes on foot from exit A1 of Higashi-Shinjuku Station. Several rescued cats spend the evening in the small bar, walking along the counter and among the seats while guests drink, and the cats on duty change from day to day. It describes itself as a cat bar rather than a cat cafe. Entry is through a paid membership or a reservation through the bar's official LINE account, and visits are charged as set plans that include drinks. The bar opens at 8 PM and stays open late into the night. It is non-smoking and has an English menu and free Wi-Fi. It drew international attention after appearing in a CNN New Year's Eve broadcast at the end of 2023.
