Aizu Megoneko
Aizu Megoneko is a cat cafe on the second floor of a building in Omachi, central Aizuwakamatsu, reached by stairs only. Most of its cats are seniors over nine years old, several of them on the chubby side, along with a couple of younger cats who like to play, so it suits visitors happy to watch sleeping cats and wait for the friendly ones to come over. The room is spacious and clean, with calm background music. Visits are charged per 30 minutes or longer, drinks are self-service, and cat treats are sold; a stamp card gives a discounted visit after five stamps. Children on their first visit are limited to 30 minutes, and hand washing is encouraged on the way in and out. Weekdays are usually quiet.
