Orlando Cat Café
Clermont, Florida
Orlando Cat Café is a coffeehouse and cat adoption lounge in the Town Center at Cagan Crossings in Clermont, on US 27, about five miles west of Disney's Animal Kingdom as the crow flies. Opened in 2016, it was the first cat cafe in Florida. The coffee shop side serves Minch Coffee, tea, pastries and light food, while a separate 1,000-square-foot cat play and adoption area with its own entrance holds around 12 to 15 cats and kittens from SPCA Florida, all available for adoption. Guests pay an hourly entry fee per person, with a lower rate for children under 12, and can take their food and drinks into the cat area. Reservations are strongly recommended. Visitors who only want coffee can watch the cats through a viewing window from the cafe. The cafe also hosts special events, including cat yoga and after-hours overnight stays with the cats.

Bertha's Beans Cat Café
Columbia, Missouri
Bertha's Beans Cat Café is a coffee shop and cat lounge at the western edge of downtown Columbia, near Providence Road and Broadway and a short walk from the University of Missouri. It is run by the owners of the local Lizzi & Rocco's Natural Pet Market and works as a large foster home for Columbia Second Chance, so apart from two resident cats every cat in the lounge is available for adoption through the rescue. The cats live in their own room, separated from the cafe and kitchen by an airlock, and visitors pay an entry fee for time with them; no reservation is needed. Guests of all ages are welcome, but under-16s must stay with a paying adult, and everyone signs a waiver. The cafe serves espresso, tea, house-made pastries, wraps and sandwiches, sells cat-themed goods and offers monthly and annual memberships.

Patriot Pawsabilities
Fairfax, Virginia
Patriot Pawsabilities, known as P2, is a veteran-owned cat lounge on the back side of University Mall in Fairfax, between McAlister's and the ABC store, close to George Mason University. It was founded by Monique Ryan, a retired Army warrant officer. Up to 35 cats and 20 kittens from partner rescues, including Homeless Animal Rescue Team and To the ResQ, live cage-free in a main lounge and a separate kitten room, and more than 1,100 have been adopted. Visits last one hour, start on the hour and are charged per person, with a child rate and discounts for students, seniors, military, teachers and medical workers. Reservations are recommended, and guests remove their shoes and wear socks. Children must be at least 4 on weekdays and 7 on weekends, and Friday evenings are for ages 16 and up. No food is sold, but guests may bring food from the mall.

The Pawffee Shop Cat Cafe
Appleton, Wisconsin
The Pawffee Shop Cat Cafe is a coffee shop and cat lounge on North Casaloma Drive in Grand Chute, on the edge of Appleton near Fox River Mall. It opened in August 2019 as northeast Wisconsin's first cat cafe, and all of its cats come from Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary in Green Bay, a no-kill, cage-free rescue for cats with special needs and disabilities; more than 200 have been adopted through the cafe. The cafe serves coffee drinks and local bakery items. Entry to the cat lounge is free with a cafe purchase or a donation to the rescue from each person in the group. The lounge opens an hour after the cafe. Walk-ins are taken as space allows on weekdays, and Saturdays, the busiest day, can be reserved. Guests sign a digital waiver, should not pick up adult cats and must supervise children.

Pounce Cat Cafe + Wine Bar
Charleston, South Carolina
Pounce Cat Cafe + Wine Bar is a cat cafe on Meeting Street in downtown Charleston, between Marion Square and the Charleston Museum. Opened in 2016 as one of the first cat cafes in the South, it has a cafe and bar serving coffee, tea, lemonade, beer and wine with pre-packaged pastries and snacks, and a separate living-room-style cat lounge. The cats come from the shelter Pet Helpers, and the cafe fosters 15 to 20 of its adoptable cats at a time; they live there uncaged until adopted, and adoptions are arranged at the cafe. Lounge visits are booked by the hour for a fee, and drinks can be taken in. Reservations are not required but are strongly recommended, as only a few guests are allowed in each hour. Visitors must be at least 12, and those aged 12 to 15 need a parent or guardian.

Georgetown, South Carolina
Purr & Pour Cat Cafe is a cat cafe on Front Street in historic downtown Georgetown, the waterfront town between Myrtle Beach and Charleston, a block from the Harborwalk. Opened in 2019, it fosters adoptable cats for All 4 Paws Animal Rescue in a storefront set up like a relaxed living room, with comfortable seating and Wi-Fi, where about a dozen cats roam freely. A visit to the cat lounge includes a drink from the gift shop counter, which offers Kitty Town coffee, hot tea, soda, craft beer and wine, and the shop also sells cat-themed merchandise. Lounge spots can be booked online, and walk-ins are welcome for one-hour or half-hour visits when there is room. All the cats can be adopted, with applications taken at the cafe. The cafe also hosts outings for veterans and school groups, and two Airbnb apartments upstairs are rented to visitors.

Purrfect Day Cat Cafe
Louisville, Kentucky
Purrfect Day Cat Cafe on Bardstown Road in the Highlands opened in August 2018 as Kentucky's first cat cafe. Anyone can stop in at the bar for coffee, tea, wine, beer or cocktails, while time with the cats is booked online in timed sessions; reservations are recommended at weekends, on holidays and in summer. There are two cat areas: a kitten lounge downstairs and an upstairs lounge for adoptable adult cats, expanded in a 2025 renovation. All the cats come from the Kentucky Humane Society, which sets the adoption fees, and are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before they arrive. Would-be adopters fill in the Humane Society's interest form, meet the cats during a session and can often take a cat home the same day. The cafe also hosts events and private parties with the cats.

Palmyra, New Jersey
PURRsonal Space is a nonprofit cat lounge and adoption center in a storefront in a small shopping center on Market Street in Palmyra, run by PURRsonal Space 'ROCKS', Inc., a 501(c)(3) rescue whose name stands for Reaching Out to Cats & Kittens in Shelters. Founder Lori Genstein, a professional pet sitter, opened it in February 2018 as South Jersey's Cat Lounge, with hourly admission, a cat-themed shop at the entrance, slippers for visitors and a hand-painted pet mural and Rainbow Bridge memorial by local artist Karol Greene Baker. In 2020 it became mainly a rescue, taking cats from shelters such as the Burlington County Animal Shelter and from families in crisis and keeping a small number in a cage-free lounge. Visits are scheduled in advance, with a donation as the entry fee, and adopters pay a $20 application fee and go through reference checks and a home visit.

Rahway, New Jersey
Rahway Kitty Hall is a small cat lounge on West Main Street in downtown Rahway, Union County, next to the Union County Performing Arts Center and a short walk from Rahway station on NJ Transit. It opened in 2017 as one of New Jersey's first cat cafes and is currently open on weekends only. The adoptable cats and kittens come from the rescue Angel Paws and live in a home-like room with couches, where visitors can relax with a cat on their lap, read or have a cup of tea or coffee. The lounge encourages people thinking of adopting to visit several times to get to know a particular cat, and adoptions go through an approval process. Visits are paid by the hour and booked online, with staff keeping a close eye on how guests handle the cats and sometimes handing out treats for visitors to give them.

Rescued Treasures Cat Cafe
Las Vegas, Nevada
Rescued Treasures Cat Cafe is the cat lounge of PALnv, a Las Vegas cat rescue, and opened in August 2019 as the first cat cafe in the Las Vegas Valley. It is now at 4601 North Rancho Drive in the northwest valley. PALnv works with trappers and colony feeders to take friendly cats directly off the street, and the cafe usually has 20 to 30 adoptable cats plus kittens. Visits are hourly sessions that start on the hour, booked online or by phone, with a lower rate on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Complimentary drinks and snacks, free Wi-Fi and games are included, and a gift shop sells items for people and pets. Children must be eight or older, with one adult per five minors. Adoptions are by online application, and the cafe hosts events such as art and painting nights.

River Kitty Cat Café
Evansville, Indiana
River Kitty Cat Café is a nonprofit cat cafe in a historic building on Main Street in downtown Evansville. It opened in 2017 and has been owned and run by the Vanderburgh Humane Society since 2019, acting as a second adoption location for the shelter, and all proceeds fund its work. Around 20 vetted cats live in the lounge. The cafe side serves coffee, smoothies, tea, beer and wine and keeps at least 16 flavors of macarons. Lounge visits are one hour when reserved online, and shorter 30-minute visits are walk-in only. The lounge holds 10 guests at a time, food is not allowed inside, children 13 and under need an adult, and there is a limit of three children per adult. Adoptions are handled by phone and online with Vanderburgh Humane Society counselors, so a cat can go home the same day once approved.

The Scratching Post Cat Cafe
Lewisburg, Pennsylvania
The Scratching Post is a volunteer-run cat cafe on Market Street in downtown Lewisburg, a few blocks from Bucknell University. It was founded in 2017 by the Cherished Cats Rescue Alliance, and its adoptable cats live cage-free in a living-room-style space so that visitors can see their personalities as they would be at home. Usually around ten to fifteen cats are in residence. Entry is a small per-person fee with no fixed time limit, and guests can sit on comfortable seating, use the Wi-Fi, read, study or catch up with friends among the cats. No food is prepared or sold on site, but visitors may bring food from nearby businesses as long as they do not share it with the cats. Visitors must be at least five years old and sign a waiver, valid for one year. Adoptions are arranged through an application with Cherished Cats.
