It is a sister shop of ABOUT H Coffee, and its two shop cats, including a sleepy favourite named Mantou, roam the room and are happy to be stroked; staff readily invite guests to say hello. The space is simple and comfortable, with a power socket at every seat and padding on sharp corners. The owner bakes the cakes in house, with layered crepe cakes made fresh daily, chiffon cakes, Basque cheesecake and freshly baked financiers, served with lattes, matcha and house specials. The minimum order is one drink per person and there is no service charge. Daily limited desserts are announced on Instagram.
肉球森林
Taipei City
肉球森林 (Paws Forest) is an animal cafe on a lane off Xinsheng South Road Section 1 in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, near Dongmen MRT station. Alongside its resident cats, it is known for meerkats and toucans, and the cafe is laid out so the animals have their own areas while guests can interact with them up close. Staff give a clear introduction to the layout and house rules when you arrive and point out which cats are most sociable. Feeding the toucans is offered as a paid add-on, and the meerkat area lets you watch, pet and photograph them. The kitchen serves full meals such as pasta, risotto, rice balls, fried chicken, clam chowder and puddings. It is a popular spot, so booking online in advance is strongly recommended rather than relying on the walk-in queue.
貓咪摸摸茶 Cat Patting House
Taipei City
貓咪摸摸茶 Cat Patting House is a small cat lounge on the eighth floor of an office building on Linsen North Road in Zhongshan District, Taipei. Its main business is cat boarding, but the owner also runs a pour-over coffee bar and yoga classes in the space, and his own family of about five Bengal cats comes to work with him. The Bengals, a mother with her grown kittens and a couple of more aloof elders, are friendly and well groomed, and the owner introduces each one and will coax the shy ones out. Entry costs NT$250, which can be put towards a coffee, and there is no time limit. Shoes come off at the door. The owner speaks good Japanese. The building can be tricky to find, so check the directions on the cafe's social pages before visiting.

Entry includes a drink: around NT$299 per person on weekdays and NT$349 at weekends, with desserts available to add on. Tables are fairly close together and weekends get busy, so weekdays are quieter for reading or working with the cats. The food menu has recently been limited to desserts, so eat beforehand if you want a meal.

Taipei City
樂貓小廚 is a busy animal restaurant in a lane off Zhonghua Road Section 1 in Wanhua District, Taipei, a short walk from Ximending. Cats are everywhere: the resident group is dominated by short-legged Munchkins, and they are famously affectionate, happy to be stroked and often willing to be held. The cafe also keeps small dogs, including Pomeranians, and a few lizards, so it suits visitors who like a mix of animals. The kitchen serves full meals rather than just snacks, with risottos, rice bowls such as grilled pork rice, thick toast and desserts, and a range of Thai-style milk teas. It is one of the busiest cat venues in the city, so expect a wait at peak times. Visitors should follow the staff's guidance when interacting with the animals.
KONEKO CAFE
Taipei City
KONEKO CAFE is a fully plant-based cafe with resident cats on Dihua Street Section 1 in the Dadaocheng area of Datong District, Taipei. The shop is decorated with cat touches throughout and is home to three cats, two tabby moggies and an orange cat, who come and go around the room; they sometimes wander off on their rounds, so meeting them is a matter of luck. There is no time limit, and an upstairs seating area opens at weekends. Everything is vegan: oat-milk lattes, whisked matcha lattes and Sicilian-style iced coffee, plus egg- and dairy-free bakes such as cinnamon rolls, Basque cheesecake and puddings. The cafe has recently started late-evening opening on some days. It is a relaxed stop while exploring Dihua Street rather than a dedicated cat lounge.

The room is roomy and kept free of smells, with air purifiers running in every area. The kitchen offers set meals, waffles and other desserts, milk tea and coffee. The cafe is popular with families, and children who like cats are welcome. Long-haired cats shed, so allergy sufferers should come prepared. It makes a pleasant stop when visiting Beitou's hot spring area.

Taipei City
餘溫貓咪咖啡食堂 is a long-running cat cafe and diner on the second floor of a building on Guangming Road in Beitou District, Taipei, near Xinbeitou. It describes itself as a quiet refuge combining coffee, food, desserts, cats and music, and it has been building its story for more than a decade. A large group of resident cats roams freely and is very sociable, and staff give newcomers a careful introduction. Unlike many cat cafes, the food is a real draw: home-style fried rice dishes with sesame-oil chicken, basil crab or pan-fried fish, rice plates and the house angel coffee. Weekday visits have no time limit and no service charge. Guests must be at least eight years old. Cooking smells can be noticeable indoors, so bear that in mind if you are sensitive to them.
ABOUT H Coffee
Taipei City
ABOUT H Coffee is a hidden cafe in a lane off Zhongxiao East Road Section 2 in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, near Huashan 1914 Creative Park. Behind the low-key entrance is a cosy room shared with around six resident cats, who lounge by the windows, claim empty seats and are happy to be stroked, though not picked up. Staff explain each cat's likes and dislikes. The cafe is best known for its layered crepe cakes and pistachio Basque cheesecake, served with coffee, tea and lattes. Ordering one item per person gets you about 90 minutes at the table. It is very popular, so phoning ahead to book is strongly advised, and parents bringing children should read the entry guidelines on the cafe's Instagram first. Payment is cash only.
光嶼
Taipei City
光嶼 is a rescue cat cafe on Hami Street in Datong District, Taipei, near Yuanshan MRT station. Its name combines light and island, and the owners run it as a calm refuge where rescued street cats recover and wait for new homes. Many cats live here, mostly moggies with a few British Shorthairs, and they are gentle and sociable; a separate cat room lets you sit among them, while the front seating area stays free of cat smells. The owners introduce each cat and are happy to talk about adoption. The menu is simple and affordable: coffee, cakes and refillable herbal and jujube teas, and the quiet room with soft music suits reading or working. Seating is limited, so asking ahead before visiting is a good idea.
