Its cats are popular breeds, among them Scottish Folds, Norwegian Forest Cats, American Curls, a Maine Coon, a Siberian and a Ragamuffin. The first 30 minutes cost NT$250 on weekdays and NT$280 on weekends and holidays, then NT$50 or NT$60 for every extra 10 minutes, capped at NT$650 or NT$760, and the self-service drink bar is included. No reservation is needed. Children aged 4 and up are admitted, and under-12s must come with a parent or guardian. Outside food is not allowed, and guests may not chase or feed the cats or use flash.

Cats Got Nothing To Do Café

Cats Got Nothing To Do Café (貓空閒) is an open-air cafe in Maokong, the tea-growing hill area of Wenshan District, on an open lot opposite No. 33-7 on Lane 38, Zhinan Road Section 3. It sits among the cluster of tea houses and restaurants about a seven-minute walk (around 550 m) from Maokong Gondola station. Seating is outdoors under canopies and parasols, facing the valley with a view across Taipei to Taipei 101, and there is a further seating area up a short flight of steps across the road. A few cats live on site and wander among the tables. Each guest orders at least one drink, and the menu runs to coffee, tea, juice and light snacks. It stays open late, until midnight and until 3 AM on Fridays and Saturdays, and because all seating is outdoors it may close early when it rains. Payment is cash only.

It keeps a large group of purebred cats with very different personalities, from Sphynx and Oriental cats to very fluffy long-haired breeds. Entry is charged by time at NT$50 per 10 minutes, capped at NT$500, and stays of 40 minutes or more include a free drink. Visitors change into slippers, sanitise their hands and get a locker before going in, and meals are served in a separate dining area away from the cats. The stairs are narrow and there is no lift, and children under 13 are not admitted. Its sister cafe, NUKU NUKU, is a few streets away.

The resident group is led by more than ten large, calm Maine Coons, joined by two Ragdolls, a Devon Rex and a golden long-haired cat, and staff explain the house etiquette before you go in.
