The Shabby Tabby Cat Cafe & Kitten Lounge
Sayville, New York
The Shabby Tabby Cat Cafe & Kitten Lounge is a cage-free cat cafe on West Main Street in downtown Sayville, on Long Island's South Shore. It opened in 2018 as Long Island's first cat cafe and moved to its current, larger space in 2021. More than 30 cats live in a large cat room, with a separate kitten lounge. Since 2024 the cats have come from the cafe's own rescue, Friends of Ollie, which takes cats from high-kill shelters, the streets and poor homes, and all are adoptable. Visits are paid by the hour or as an all-day pass, with a hot drink included. Walk-ins are welcome when there is room, though weekend booking is advised. There is no food on site, only drinks for sale. Children under 13 need an adult, and Thursday evenings are for guests 16 and up. Events include cat yoga, paint nights and drag bingo.
