The Republic of Cats
Saint Petersburg
The Republic of Cats, located at Liteiny Prospekt 60, St. Petersburg, Russia, is a pioneering cat cafe and cultural hub, proudly claiming the title of Europe's first and largest cat cafe, where visitors can immerse themselves in the company of over 20 feline residents of various breeds. This unique space, part of the broader Cats Museum network, offers a cozy cafe experience with coffee, tea, and light bites, alongside a "cat therapy" hall where guests can relax with adoptable cats, many of whom carry out a socially significant mission, including some from the Hermitage Museum's famous mousing crew. Requiring reservations for entry, the cafe also features a souvenir shop brimming with cat-themed art, a "Cat Library" of feline literature, and events like art exhibitions, all set in an art-filled environment that celebrates St. Petersburg's deep connection to cats.
