Cat Cafes in Lombardy

Milano, Lombardy

Miaoka ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌Cat Café is a small cat café on Viale Montello at the edge of Milan's Chinatown, a short walk from the Monumentale metro station. Guests order at the front counter, where staff explain the house rules, and then move into a separate cat room for a timed stay, with a minimum purchase per person. Six resident purebred cats live there, including a Bengal, a Maine Coon, a Ragdoll, a Siberian and two British cats. Visitors wear disposable shoe covers, may not pick up the cats or wake sleeping ones, and must not bring outside food; cat treats are sold from a vending machine in the room. Children under 6 are not admitted to the cat room, and children under 12 must be with a parent. The menu covers bubble tea, coffee, cakes and snacks for breakfast, brunch, afternoon snacks and aperitivo, served every day.

Crazy ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌Cat Café is a cat café and bistro on Via Napo Torriani, near Milano Centrale station and the Repubblica metro stop. Opened in October 2015 after the founder visited a neko café in Osaka, it was the first cat café in Lombardy. Ten resident cats, all former strays taken in through animal welfare associations and named after music stars, roam the dining room, while the kitchen and counter are closed to them. The kitchen makes its own pastries and savoury dishes for breakfast, brunch, lunch, aperitivo and themed dinners. A small per-person contribution towards the cats' care is added to the bill, and booking online or by phone is recommended. Children under 12 must be supervised, and guests may not pick up the cats or wake sleeping ones. In 2026 the café added the Crazy Cat Village, a second space for workshops and shelter events.

Cats ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌is the first cat café in Pavia, under the porticoes of Viale Bligny beside the Naviglio Pavese. It opened in July 2023 as a project of La Tana dei Sette Gatti, a local association that uses the café's proceeds to support feral cat colonies, shelters and sanctuaries. A small group of rescued European cats lives in the café, chosen for their sociable temperament; they move freely between the tables and have beds, scratching posts and toys, and can withdraw when they want. Visitors ring the doorbell to be let in. The menu covers coffee, homemade cakes, sandwiches, bruschetta and cocktails for breakfast, lunch and an evening aperitivo. There is a small outdoor area, and guests are asked to respect the cats' space.

Lə ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌Gattarə is a cat café and wine bar on Via Giosuè Carducci in Bergamo's lower town, run by two owners who share the space with their three resident cats. The room is large and sparsely furnished so the cats can wander freely, and there is no time limit on visits. Reservations are not taken. The small kitchen is vegetarian, with vegan and gluten-free options such as veggie burgers and seasonal dishes, alongside natural wines from women winemakers, beer and kombucha. Espresso is deliberately left off the menu to encourage slower visits, though other coffee drinks are served. A shelf of books and board games is available, and the venue hosts a book club, workshops and fundraising events for local groups. It describes itself as an inclusive, LGBTQ+ safe space. Guests are asked not to pick up the cats.
