There are 28 cat cafes in Germany.
Café Katzenzeit
Braunschweig, Niedersachsen
Café Katzenzeit is an independent cat cafe in Braunschweig's historic Magniviertel, on Am Magnitor near the Magnikirche. It opened in January 2026 in the former premises of the owner's matcha pop-up store. About six cats from various animal shelters and rescue groups live in the roughly 200-square-metre cafe and roam freely among the guests, with two and a half rooms to retreat to. The cafe's own cats are not for adoption, but the owner uses the cafe to promote adopting shelter cats from across Lower Saxony and to give advice on it. House rules ask guests not to pick up, chase or wake the cats, and treats can be bought for them. The menu offers breakfast, brunch, sandwiches, waffles, cakes, Italian coffee and matcha drinks. Opening hours have changed several times, so checking the cafe's Instagram before a visit is advisable.
Café Katzenwald
Wolfenbuettel, Niedersachsen
Café Katzenwald is a vegetarian cat cafe in Wolfenbüttel's old town, on Löwenstraße at the start of the pedestrian zone when coming from the Schlossplatz. Opened in May 2025 as the first cat cafe in the Braunschweig region, it is decorated as a forest with warm wood, plants and a large tree on one wall. Its cats come from the Tierheim Helmstedt animal shelter, with a focus on older cats or cats with disabilities that have poorer chances of adoption, and they can be adopted when a suitable home is found. The group is kept at four to six cats, which have a separate room closed to guests where they can retreat and spend the night. The vegetarian menu includes breakfast, bagels, waffles, cakes and hot dishes with vegan options, plus coffee and matcha, and cat treats are sold. There is outdoor seating.

Katzentempel Dortmund
Dortmund, Nordrhein Westfalen
Katzentempel Dortmund is a vegan cat cafe and restaurant of the Katzentempel chain under construction on Kampstraße in Dortmund's city centre, in the former Conrad building that runs through to Westenhellweg, close to the Thier-Galerie shopping centre. It is run by two former staff members of Katzentempel Bochum. As at other branches, cats from animal welfare organisations will live in the restaurant and move freely among the guests, with their own retreat area; the first cat for Dortmund is a young tomcat rescued from the streets of Dubai. Guests will order from the chain's fully plant-based menu of breakfasts, bowls, burgers and cakes, with no entry fee. The restaurant is planned with around 70 seats.
Janas Katzencafé
Koblenz, Rheinland Pfalz
Janas Katzencafé is a cat cafe room inside the Koblenz animal shelter (Tierheim Koblenz), run by the Tierschutzverein Koblenz und Umgebung on Zaunheimer Straße in the Rübenach district on the western edge of the city. Opened in July 2025 and named in memory of Jana, the cat-loving daughter of the family who funded it, it is a decorated lounge where visitors sit with coffee, tea and small snacks while shelter cats roam freely and choose whether to come over, play or watch. The cats live at the shelter and are looking for homes, so a visit is also a relaxed way to meet a cat before adopting, but guests who only want to spend time with the cats are welcome. Visits are by appointment only, booked by phone, and only a few places are given out each afternoon so the cats are not overwhelmed. The cafe is staffed by volunteers.
