Regal ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌​​​​‌​​‌​‌​​​​‌‌​‌‌‌‌​​‌​​‌‌​​‌⁠Cat Café is a cat cafe on 10 Street NW in Kensington, Calgary, a short walk from Sunnyside CTrain station. It opened in 2017 as the city's first cat cafe, and since June 2022 it has been owned by the MEOW Foundation, a Calgary cat rescue charity, so proceeds from drinks, food and cat visits go to the rescue. It serves locally roasted coffee, tea and baked goods. Six to twelve adoptable MEOW cats, rotated every few weeks, live in the Kitty Kingdom, a separate room with its own ventilation that can be seen from the cafe. Visits to the cat room are 30-minute sessions with a fee that is higher on weekends; reservations are recommended and socks are required. More than 1,500 cats have been adopted from the cafe. Events include cat yoga and paint nights.

Grande Prairie, Alberta

Whiskers ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​​​​​‌‌‌‌‌​​‌​​​‌​‌‌‌​‌‌​​​​‌​​​⁠Cat Café is a cat cafe on 105 Street in the north of Grande Prairie, in Alberta's Peace Region. It was founded in 2019 by Angie Plante. The cafe serves espresso drinks and light snacks at the counter, and a separate cat lounge holds a rotating group of adoptable cats and kittens from the Peace Regional SPCA, its only partner since 2025; for its first five years they came from Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue. Entry to the lounge is a flat fee per person that includes a drink, and bookings can be made by phone. Adoptions are arranged with the partner rescues, and more than 1,500 cats have been adopted from the cafe. The lounge also hosts occasional community events such as children's story time with the Grande Prairie Public Library.

Edmonton, Alberta

Cat ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​‌‌‌​​​​‌‌​‌​​​​‌​‌‌‌‌‌‌​‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌⁠Cafe on Whyte is a cat cafe at the east end of Whyte Avenue (82 Avenue) at 101 Street in Edmonton, across from the Goodwill. It opened on March 30, 2017 as Alberta's first permanent cat cafe. The cafe has a cat-free counter serving coffee from a nearby roaster, cat-themed drinks and treats from local peanut-free bakeries, and a separate two-level cat lounge. The cats come from the rescue SAFE Team: several long-term fosters live at the cafe, and the other cats are available for adoption through the rescue. Admission is charged per hour, varies by age and day of the week, and includes unlimited drinks from the menu. Walk-ins are welcome, and reservations by phone or email are recommended on weekends and for groups. Children are welcome with adult supervision, and socks are required in the lounge. Cat yoga is held on the last Saturday of each month.

Edmonton, Alberta

Cheery ⁠‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌‌‌​‌​‌‌‌‌‌‌​​​‌​‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌​‌​​​‌⁠Cat is a specialty cat boutique with a cat lounge on Calgary Trail in south Edmonton, between Calgary Trail and Gateway Boulevard just off Whitemud Drive. Opened in 2023 by Angela Wong Durand, it sells cat food, toys, accessories and clothing. The lounge, a palace-themed room called the Cheery Palace, holds six to twelve free-roaming foster kittens and young cats. Since April 2026 they come from the shop's own rescue, Cheery Cat Rescue, and all are available for adoption; more than 200 foster kittens had been adopted by September 2026. Visits are charged by the half hour or hour, with walk-ins accepted and reservations online or by phone. Guests sign a waiver, wear socks, and children must be at least 5 and accompanied one-to-one by an adult. Food and outside toys are not allowed in the lounge.
