Snack Koneko
Snack Koneko is a small karaoke snack bar in Higashi-Shinkoiwa, Katsushika, about five to seven minutes on foot from the north exit of Shin-Koiwa Station on the JR Sobu Line. Six resident cats live in the bar, including a black cat that often sits on the cat tower by the glass entrance, so they can be seen from the street. Inside, the cats nap in the booth seats and on the counter chairs and come over to customers to be stroked, while the mama serves drinks and home-cooked dishes such as curry and fried rice. It is an adult bar first, with beer, whisky, shochu and karaoke, but the cats are the main reason many visitors come. On weekends and holidays it also opens for an afternoon session before the evening bar hours, which suits a quieter visit with the cats.
