Riko and Rita Animal Shelter

Riko and Rita is an open rescue cat shelter on the ground floor of the Orihime Animal Clinic in Tsudayamate, Hirakata, about 19 minutes on foot from JR Fujisaka Station or 21 minutes from Tsuda Station, up a slope, with parking for 12 cars. It began operating in spring 2025 and is run by Neko Smile, a cat rescue group active in Katano and Hirakata. A small group of rescued cats live in the room, all looking for adopters, and visitors can drop in to spend time with them, although booking is preferred. Visits are charged per 30 minutes or per hour, cash only, and the fees go to the cats' care. Adoption follows an application, a trial period and set conditions. It is closed on Sundays and public holidays, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays it closes at 2 PM unless a later visit is booked the day before.
