Katano, Osaka, Japan
Avenir Brillant
Avenir Brillant is a small cafe and goods shop with resident cats in a residential area of Myokenzaka, Katano, roughly a 12-minute walk from Keihan Kisaichi Station. Rather than charging by time like a conventional cat cafe, it is a cafe where the owners' cats live and roam freely; of around eight cats, four or five usually come out into the cafe, and the oldest, at about 19, likes to sit on visitors' laps. Guests order drinks and food and spend time with the cats, often chatting with the owner about them, and the interior is decorated with art and cat-themed items. The cafe opens only on a few days each week, from late morning to early evening, and asks visitors to reserve in advance. Opening days change, so it is best to check its Instagram before visiting.
