Persian Cat Museum

Persian Cat Museum, also known as Meowzeh, is a cat cafe and small museum in an old three-storey house on Mehr Alley, off Arak Street and Ostad Nejatollahi (Villa) Street in central Tehran. The ground floor and courtyard hold a cafe-restaurant serving coffee, Iranian drinks, pizza and pasta, while the two upper floors are home to around 30 resident cats, among them Persians, British Shorthairs, Russian Blues and domestic shorthairs. The cat floors also display cat-themed stamps, old photographs, caricatures and illustrations from Obeyd Zakani's Mouse and Cat. Visits to the cat floors are charged per person for a session of about 45 minutes, separately from the cafe, and the last visits are at 9 PM. Visitors wear shoe covers, and staff ask guests to let the cats approach first, pet them gently and not pick them up. Opened in 2020, it was Iran's first cat cafe.
