Rikuzentakata, Iwate, Japan

one scene.

one scene. is a rescue cat cafe and cat goods shop in a prefab building on the Hirota Peninsula in Rikuzentakata, about 16 minutes by car from the Rikuzentakata interchange on the Sanriku Expressway. It began as a cat goods shop and added the cat cafe in May 2026, run by an owner who moved from Tokyo and also works in video and design to fund rescue work. The cats were rescued from around the city; at present none are listed for adoption. Visits are booked by LINE or phone and run in 60-minute sessions starting on the hour, with up to five guests per session. Prices are higher on Saturdays, holidays and peak seasons, with lower rates for students and children, and monthly and supporter memberships are offered. The cats take a break from 2 PM to 3 PM on Saturdays and holidays. Opening days can vary.
