Yame, Fukuoka, Japan
Nha Con Meo
Nha Con Meo is a rescue cat cafe in Motomura, Yame, whose name means house of cats in Vietnamese. It opened as Kurume's first cat cafe and moved to its current home in Yame in December 2023. The cafe aims to connect cats at risk of euthanasia with new owners, and most of its many resident cats, all rescues, are looking for adoptive families. The cat room is larger than the modest exterior suggests. Entry is charged for the first 30 minutes and then in 10-minute increments, with a weekday option to stay until closing, and drinks such as Vietnamese coffee are ordered separately. Visits are by reservation only, and the cat room is for junior high school students and older, with younger children asked to check first. Socks are required, and coats and bags go in lockers. Closures are announced on Instagram.

Crepe to Neko no Ie
Kurume, Fukuoka5.5 mi / 8.9 km
Crepe to Neko no Ie is a crepe shop in Kamitsu, Kurume, whose owner runs a private cat rescue from the same building. The upper floor is a cat room where rescued cats live while they wait for new homes, and it serves as a permanent adoption venue where people can watch the cats' everyday behaviour before applying. Volunteer staff look after the cats and can explain each one's personality and history. The shop says it is not a cat cafe, so there is no entry or time charge and the rescue work is funded by donations, though visits are limited to one hour, or 30 minutes for families with children, and prospective adopters get priority. Visits and adoption appointments are booked by phone, and adoption terms are discussed in person. Socks are required, and strong perfume is not allowed. The cat room is open every day in the afternoon.

Visits are by reservation through Instagram direct message or the official LINE account, usually in the afternoon, and the opening days are published each month. People considering adoption are given priority. Visitors must wear socks, avoid strong perfume and stay calm around the cats. A small handmade goods shop operates next door.
