Neko-Shiki
Neko-Shiki is an adoption-focused rescue cat cafe in Mizonokuchi, Kawasaki, about eight minutes on foot from Mizonokuchi, Musashi-Mizonokuchi and Takatsu stations. Opened in 2012, it was the first cat cafe in Kanagawa set up to find adopters for its cats, many of them rescued locally, including from the banks of the Tama River. The cat area has windows along more than half its walls for sunbathing, a separate room for shy cats and litter boxes kept out of the play space, and kittens join only after completing their vaccinations. A separate cafe area, walled off from the cats, serves drinks and is open to all ages, while the cat area admits children from elementary school age with an adult. Visits are charged by the hour, with weekday free-time and private hire options. The cafe is closed on Mondays and Thursdays.
