Chiisana Hogo Neko Cafe Kaori

Chiisana Hogo Neko Cafe Kaori, whose name means little rescue cat cafe, is a small, individually run cafe in Kuji, Kawasaki, ten minutes on foot from Takatsu Station or a short bus ride from Mizonokuchi. It opens on Saturdays only, and its cats come from Amami Oshima, Yakushima, the Kawasaki animal shelter and elsewhere, all looking for new homes, while two resident cats help shy newcomers get used to people. Visits are charged by the minute after an initial 20 minutes, payment is in cash, and all fees go to the cats. Reservations get priority, walk-ins are accepted, and a slot can be booked privately for a group. Children of elementary school age and younger are not admitted, though separate meetings are arranged for adopting families. Adoption involves an interview and a trial period. Lidded drinks may be brought in, and bottled tea and water are sold.
