Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Japan

Adagio

Adagio is a cat cafe in Nishiibacho, in the west of Hamamatsu's Chuo Ward, reached by bus from Hamamatsu Station to the Nishi Yubinkyoku stop, and it describes itself as the first cat cafe in Hamamatsu. Around a dozen cats with music-themed names roam freely, and some have lived here for many years. Visits are charged for the first 30 minutes and then per 10 minutes, and drinks and desserts are ordered separately but are optional. Children can visit under set conditions on time and accompanying adults, booking is possible by phone or online, and beginner lessons on how to handle cats are offered. The owners also breed and sell kittens, run a cat-sitting service and sell cat goods. The cafe closes on Thursdays, or the following day when Thursday is a holiday.
