Meow&me Karatsu
Meow&me Karatsu is a rescue cat cafe and casual restaurant in Choda, Karatsu, about 15 minutes on foot from Watada Station. It opened in May 2026 on the ground floor of a building shared with a hair salon, and a small street-side window lets passers-by see the cats sunbathing. Many of the cats are waiting for new homes, though a few are resident cats that are not up for adoption. Visits to the cat area are charged by time, cat treats can be bought on site, and the restaurant side serves lunch and evening meals. Socks are required, outside food and cat toys are not allowed, and children of elementary school age and younger need an adult with them. Adopters visit a cat at least twice, then have an interview and a one to two week home trial. The cafe is closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Mii HOUSE is a rescue cat room and temporary shelter on the second floor of Cafe Tsumugu in Hamatama, Karatsu, near the Niji no Matsubara pine forest. The ground-floor cafe serves lunches, karaage and sweets, and its takings go towards the cats, while upstairs visitors can spend time with cats rescued through local trap-neuter-return work, including former strays and shrine cats. There is no entry fee: visitors order one drink and then stay with the cats, no booking needed, and children are welcome. All the cats are up for adoption, with a meeting, a home trial and formal adoption, and the team will take a cat back if an adopter can no longer keep it.
