Katze Cat & Coffee House
Katze Cat & Coffee House is a cat cafe in a house in Jardines de Xelajú, Zona 8, on the north side of Quetzaltenango (Xela), and calls itself the city's first cat cafe. María José Contreras opened it with her family on 11 May 2024 as a home for adult cats that had been abandoned, mistreated, injured or left waiting a long time for adoption, some of them with feline leukaemia. In mid-2026 twelve cats lived there permanently, and the owners said they planned to keep them rather than rehome them. The door stays locked, so visitors ring the bell to be let in; no reservation is needed and entry depends on space. Café sales are the project's only income and pay for the cats' food, litter and veterinary care. The menu has coffee, frappés, crepes, paninis, pizza, a "Hot Cat" hot dog with German sausage and curtido, and desserts such as lemon pie. Visitors should not pick up or chase the cats, children must be supervised, and pets and outside food are not allowed.

Antigua Guatemala, Sacatepequez57 mi / 91 km
Antigua Cat Cafe is a garden cat cafe in Sección A of San Pedro El Panorama, just south of the centre of Antigua Guatemala, 10 to 15 minutes from Parque Central by shared transport or tuk-tuk. Its director, Angela Kerslake from Canada, set it up with Emily Reilly and Luis Callejas after more than 16 years of rescue work in Guatemala, and it calls itself the first cat cafe in Central America. About a dozen rescued cats, among them a black cat called Frijol who inspired the logo, live there permanently and are not up for adoption. In October 2026 visiting the cats cost Q55 per person booked online and more at the door, drinks not included; the cafe itself is free to enter and has Wi-Fi and indoor and outdoor seating. It opens Thursday to Sunday only, with daytime hours for most of the year and evening hours in November and December, and stays closed Monday to Wednesday so the cats can rest. Smoking, alcohol, pets and feeding the cats are not allowed. Volunteers can stay on site.

San Salvador176 mi / 283 km
Gatitos Café is a Japanese-themed cat café in the Edificio Hernández on 4a Avenida Norte, in the Centro Histórico of San Salvador. Opened in April 2026, it describes itself as the country's first cat café; the project began earlier in Comayagua, Honduras. The café has two levels: a ground-floor café serving ramen, Japanese curry, Salvadoran-Japanese fusion dishes, themed drinks and kawaii pastries, and an upstairs cat area with a group of resident cats, most of them rescued from the streets or surrendered by former owners. Access to the cat area is by advance reservation in timed sessions, with package prices that include a drink and a snack and reduced rates for students and teenagers. Visitors disinfect their hands before entering, flash photography is not allowed and the cats have set rest periods. Some of the cats are offered for adoption.

The menu centres on cold drinks such as chamoyadas, frappés, smoothies and rusas served on the rocks with Tajín, along with coffee, burgers, chicken wings, boneless, snacks and desserts. Popoki Poke Bowl is a poke bowl cafe on Alamina Drive in Caye Caulker village, Belize, a few minutes' walk from Front Street, with a shaded garden cat area at the back. Its owners, Carin and Mica, run the cat side as a small rescue they call the Caulker Cat Crew: they take in strays and litters found on the island and offer them for adoption, and some have gone to homes abroad, including one in California. A few cats, among them Popoki and Sammy, live at the cafe. Visitors can sit with the cats while they eat or drop in just for a drink. The menu has signature and build-your-own poke bowls with seafood, other proteins and vegetables, plus coffee and other drinks, with vegan and gluten-free options. The cafe also supports the island's feral cats through the Caye Caulker Humane Society and sells merchandise, such as a cat calendar, to pay for the rescues' care.
