Hidamari Neko
Hidamari Neko is a small volunteer-run rescue cat room in Chugencho, Fukushima City. It took in the cats of a Fukushima City cat cafe that closed in October 2021, including several under medical treatment, and most of its residents are now elderly cats, joined by some younger cats fostered by the volunteers. Homes are sought for the cats, although many are expected to live out their lives here, and visitors are welcome to spend time with them whether or not they plan to adopt. Visits are charged per 30 minutes, with lower rates for children and students. To limit stress on the cats, no more than eight visitors are allowed in at once, and hands are washed and disinfected before entering. Walk-ins are accepted, but reservations take priority and are needed for parking. Bottled and canned drinks are sold, and food is not allowed. It is closed on Wednesdays.
