The Cat Works Cat Lounge is a cat adoption lounge run by the rescue CatWorks with Berks Community Cats in Stony Creek Mills, Lower Alsace Township, just east of Reading. It opened in September 2025 in a former upholstery shop on Friedensburg Road, next door to the Exeter Wellness Center, and has been turned into an indoor playground for adult cats and kittens. Visitors can come in during open hours to sit and play with the cats, and coffee, hot chocolate, snacks and crafts are available for a small donation. All of the cats are rescues available for adoption, with vaccines, deworming and spay or neuter included in the adoption fee and a discount for adopting two together. Opening hours change from week to week and are posted on the lounge's Facebook page, so check there before visiting. The lounge also holds events such as photos with Santa.

Mohnton, Pennsylvania7 mi / 11 km
Cuddles Rescue & Cat Lounge is a volunteer-run nonprofit cat rescue with a free-roaming cat lounge in Stabon Pond Plaza on East Wyomissing Avenue in Mohnton, just southwest of Reading. The rescue began inside the former Perfect Match Pet Shop before moving into its own space. Its cats come from local rescues around the United States and from partner rescues in Kuwait, and each is tested for FIV and FeLV and observed in quarantine before joining the lounge. Visitors can drop in during opening hours to relax and play with the cats, and donations are welcome to support their care. Nearly all of the cats are available for adoption, with spay or neuter, vaccinations and a microchip included, and a foster-to-adopt option lets families try a cat at home first. The plaza is close to a park and several places to eat.
