Cat Island Cafe (阿貓地攤, also called Cat Store) was one of Hong Kong's first cat cafes, last located on the third floor of the Po Ming Building on Foo Ming Street in Causeway Bay. It opened in 2000 as a small shop selling the owner's secondhand collectibles; she brought her own cat to work, customers began bringing in strays they found, and the shop gradually became a cafe. It moved several times within Causeway Bay, from Percival Street and Paterson Street to Foo Ming Street. About a dozen resident cats, mostly rescued strays, roamed the dining room freely, and the cafe served coffee, milk tea, Western and Japanese-style meals and desserts, with no time limit. It also hosted small concerts and private parties. It closed on June 29, 2025, after 25 years, and the owner pledged to move the cats to safe homes.

Around 23 cats live here, all adopted strays, and some are available for adoption. Hug and Home is a co-working space shared with rescued cats on the tenth floor of Anton Building in Wan Chai, a few minutes on foot from Wan Chai MTR Station Exit B3 or Admiralty Station Exit F. It doubles as a foster home for stray cats rescued by its founders, and most of the resident cats are waiting for adoption through the space's own screening process. Visitors pay by the hour, with higher rates on weekends and public holidays, and can work, study, read or simply sit with the cats; complimentary drinks and snacks are provided. Only guests aged 12 and over are admitted, socks must be worn and voices kept low. Seats can be booked online or by phone and WhatsApp. The space also sells handmade cat goods and hosts workshops, volunteer talks and adoption days. It moved within Anton Building in April 2026.

Cats Tea Room's Tsim Sha Tsui branch is a rescue cat cafe on the 3rd floor of Haiphong Mansion on Haiphong Road, about a minute on foot from Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station Exit A1. Neko Kinpa 猫金波 is a Japanese izakaya with resident cats on the 3rd floor of Mira Place 1 on Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, a few minutes from Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station. It opened in early 2026 in the unit formerly used by the Maha Cats lounge. The restaurant is divided into a cat area and a cat-free area, plus an outdoor terrace; before entering the cat area guests wash their hands and have their shoes sanitised. Several cats live there, and guests can play with them using toys while they eat. The menu covers skewers, sashimi, seafood cups, fried dishes, sake and cocktails. Dogs are welcome in the dining area, and the owners occasionally hold cat adoption days and pet-themed events. Papillon Tea Salon, also known as Papillon Bibliothe, is a two-storey tea room on On Wo Lane, a stepped lane on the edge of Central and Sheung Wan. The retro Showa-style interior is full of cat paintings and ornaments, and upstairs has two large bookcases of books to borrow. Catfe is a camping-themed cat restaurant on the 4th floor of Ko's House on Nathan Road, about three minutes on foot from Yau Ma Tei MTR Station Exit A1. At around 1,600 to 2,000 square feet it is one of the larger cat cafes in Mong Kok, with wooden decor, tatami floor seating, a swing and artificial grass. Around 30 or more cats live in the cafe, most of them rescued strays, and some can be adopted on the spot. There is no entry fee; instead each guest orders from the menu, with a minimum spend per person that is higher at weekends, plus a service charge. Stays are unlimited at quiet times and limited to about 90 minutes at busy times. The kitchen serves pasta, burgers, rice plates, all-day breakfast, desserts and drinks, and cat treats are sold at the counter. Booking ahead is recommended at weekends.
