Brooklyn Cat Cafe

Brooklyn Cat Café is a volunteer-run adoption center and community space that opened its doors in May 2016, proudly operating as the city’s only non-profit cat café under the Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition (BBAWC). Founded with a mission to combat cat homelessness, this cozy spot welcomes over 35,000 visitors annually in a typical year, offering a relaxed environment where adoptable cats roam freely and interact with guests sipping on coffee. Managed by BBAWC directors and fueled by passionate volunteers, the café not only facilitates adoptions—having rescued over 7,000 cats and placed more than 6,000 in forever homes since 2007—but also serves as a resource hub, providing educational workshops, Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) services since December 2016, and a low-cost medical clinic launched in 2020, all while fostering a vibrant community of cat lovers dedicated to feline welfare.
