Coffee & CATS Tampico was the first cat cafe in southern Tamaulipas, opened around 2023 on the Tampico–Mante highway in colonia Roma, between Córcega and Génova streets. It is run by sisters Ale and Addy Romero, who look after a large resident group of cats, around 35 at one count, that roam and play throughout the cafe and are generally friendly with visitors. The menu uses cat names and shapes throughout: espresso drinks such as the catpuccino and ameowricano, frappés, iced drinks and Italian sodas, salads, sandwiches, pizza and homemade cat-shaped pastries and cakes. The cafe also sells cat-themed accessories, hosts live music on some evenings and organises birthday parties. It promotes sterilisation and responsible adoption and runs raffles to cover vet costs for cats in need. The cafe is pet friendly and opens in the evenings, Tuesday to Sunday.
