Located in the North District, it is a lively family restaurant where several cats wander between the tables and let diners and children stroke them; at least one has learned to 'shake hands', so keep play gentle. Pets are welcome, and the staff are attentive with families. 森林小徑 大墩店
Taichung City
森林小徑 大墩店 is the Dadun branch of the Forest Path restaurant group, on Darong West Street in Xitun District, Taichung. Relaxed shop cats stroll through the dining room and nap around the tables, so you can eat and pet a cat at the same time; some are sleepy, so interaction depends on luck. There is also a small play corner for young children, and dogs are welcome. The menu covers Western comfort food: risotto (the bacon and Parmesan one is popular), pasta, tomahawk pork chop, oven-baked dishes, volcano pancakes, Basque cheesecake, house-made bread and soups, plus coffee and tea. Taichung City
花舞貓咖啡 is a small, quiet cafe at the end of a dead-end lane off Wuquan South Road in Taichung's South District, near National Chung Hsing University. Its cats live semi-free-roaming lives, wandering in and out of the cafe and along the lane, so sightings vary; they tend to gather in the late afternoon, when the owner puts out their food. Visitors may play with them using the wand toys provided, but should not pick them up or feed them. There is no time limit, seats have power sockets, and the cafe suits studying, small gatherings and handicraft classes, with private rooms available to rent. Prices are modest: coffee from award-winning beans, homemade bread and snacks, tea, and a growing range of savoury dishes.

Entry is NT$120 per person for two hours, which does not count towards food, plus a NT$100 minimum spend. The menu offers brunch sets, handmade cookies, cat-shaped desserts, lemon tarts and drinks, with refills on hot drinks. Bookings are taken online.

Cat treat sticks can be bought for NT$60 each, and the cats quickly learn who has them. The menu features omelette rice, fried noodles, takoyaki, cakes, maid-made cocktails and polaroid photos with staff. Maids divide their time among tables, so how much chatting you get varies. Bookings are made through the cafe's iCHEF reservation page up to two weeks ahead; there are plenty of seats for walk-ins on quieter days.
