Neko no Yakata at Fuji Safari Park
Susono, Shizuoka
Neko no Yakata, the House of Cats, is a cat room in the petting zone of Fuji Safari Park in Suyama, Susono, on the southern slopes of Mount Fuji. Visitors spend about 20 minutes with pedigree cats of around ten breeds, including American Shorthairs, Bengals, Maine Coons, Munchkins, Selkirk Rexes, Scottish Folds, Ragdolls and Chartreux, and a feeding session can be added for a small fee during set hours. A separate ticket is charged on top of park admission, sessions run in timed groups and can sell out early, and weekend and holiday slots can be booked in advance online. Children must be three or older, and children of elementary school age and under need a guardian. It opens daily, generally from late morning until mid-afternoon, with shorter hours from November to early March, so check the park's site before visiting.
