Kopi Cat Cafe by Groovy Surabaya is the East Java branch of the Jakarta cat cafe chain run by Groovy Pet Services, on the second floor of a shophouse in the Rungkut Megah Raya complex in Kali Rungkut, east Surabaya. More than a dozen pedigree cats live there, including Sphynx, British Shorthair, Scottish Fold, Persian and Ragdoll cats, all vaccinated and looked after by Groovy's pet-care team in a clean, air-conditioned room. Visits are booked in advance on the cafe's website and charged by the hour, at about 75,000 IDR per person for one hour in 2026, with cheaper weekday rates at quieter times; late arrivals can lose their slot. Wet food for feeding the cats costs extra. The menu has coffee with cat latte art, other drinks and snacks, and visitors may not bring their own pets.

CoffeeCat is a small, homely coffee and pasta shop on Jl. Kedondong Lor I in Embong Kaliasin, Genteng, near the Tunjungan area of central Surabaya. The house doubles as home to a group of rescued street cats, including the ginger Odeng, the black Sanchez, Eepot and Wamiss, along with kittens from time to time. The cats roam freely, sit with guests and accept chin rubs, though a few can be grumpy when picked up. There is no entry fee: guests order from a menu of filter coffee, lattes, coffee soda with ice cream, gyoza, sweet potato brulee, mac and cheese, spaghetti and frozen yoghurt, all homemade and inexpensive. Only around five people fit indoors, with more seats in a semi-outdoor area, and there is a shelf of books. The cafe is closed to walk-ins on Saturdays, when it opens by appointment only.

Pansa Coffee House is a homely coffee shop on a residential street in Rungkut Asri Timur, Rungkut, in east Surabaya, and is popular with local students. A sizeable group of well-fed resident cats, among them Almond and the elderly Popi, wander freely through the indoor and outdoor seating and come up to tables, although many are too used to visitors to want to be held. There is no entry ticket; guests simply order from the menu of coffee, milk teas such as earl grey, matcha, doughnuts and rice dishes like nasi gila, at student-friendly prices. The cafe is clean and does not smell of cats, and with air-conditioning, Wi-Fi and power sockets it is popular for studying and working. Parking for cars is limited on the narrow street. It is closed on Fridays.

Kopi Ruah is a two-storey garden cafe inside the Galaxy Bumi Permai housing estate in Semolowaru, Sukolilo, east Surabaya, popular with students from the nearby campuses. It is home to four resident cats, Popo, Tofu, Milky and Kunyit, who wander between the tables indoors and upstairs, keep guests company while they work and are tame enough to be stroked; staff ask guests to close the door behind them so Popo does not slip out. There is no entry fee, and guests order from a menu of coffee such as the house cold brew and americano, flavoured lattes, cheesecake, wontons, ramen, fried cassava and other snacks at affordable prices. The cafe is also pet friendly, so visitors may bring their own animals to the leafy outdoor area. With books, board games, a meeting room on the upper floor, Wi-Fi and free parking, it is a common spot for studying and working.
