Café com Gato
Sorocaba, São Paulo
Café com Gato is a cat cafe on Avenida Pereira da Silva in Jardim Santa Rosália, Sorocaba. Opened in 2014, it bills itself as Brazil's first cat cafe. The cats live in a separate glass-walled cat room that diners can watch from the cafe, and visitors who want to go inside book a 30-minute session in advance. The visit is charged per person, children up to 8 enter free, seniors over 60 pay half, and children under 10 must be with an adult. Visitors cannot return to the cafe area after the session, so it is best to eat first. Some cats are available for adoption through a partnership with the local animal shelter AATAN Sorocaba. The menu covers coffees, frappés, cakes, savory snacks, light meals and vegan options, and there is a small cat-themed shop. A colonial-style afternoon tea is held on the last Sunday of each month.
