Neko to Hon Miaw
Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi
Neko to Hon Miaw is a cat cafe and manga library on the second floor of a building in Akamacho, Shimonoseki, in the Karato area near Akama Shrine. Visitors share a calm room with around a dozen resident cats, including a Munchkin and a mix of long- and short-haired breeds, while reading from a collection of more than 20,000 manga volumes and art photo books gathered by the owner. Visits are charged by time, with packages of two or three hours, and free drinks are included. Cat treats are sold in a small daily batch, and staff explain how to approach the cats when guests arrive. Socks are required, and the cafe admits visitors of junior high school age and older. It opens in the afternoon and stays open later at weekends and on holidays, and is closed on Tuesdays and Fridays. There is no car park.
Cat Cafe Coorikuya Sea Mall Shimonoseki
Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi
Cat Cafe Coorikuya Sea Mall Shimonoseki is a branch of the nationwide Coorikuya cat cafe chain on the third floor of the Sea Mall Shimonoseki shopping centre in Takezakicho, about four minutes on foot from JR Shimonoseki Station. It is attached to the Coo&RIKU pet shop, which sells puppies and kittens. The cat room is small, which keeps visitors close to the cats, and the resident cats are used to people, with a mix of sleepy, playful and affectionate personalities. Visits are charged by time, with a free-time option, and the price includes self-service drinks. Cat treats can be bought to share with the cats, and lint rollers and wet wipes are provided. Children are welcome and pay the same rate as adults. The cafe is open every day, with last entry 30 minutes before closing.
Rescue Cat Cafe Nekonowa
Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi
Nekonowa is a rescue cat cafe in Yamanota Higashimachi, Shimonoseki, near JR Hatabu Station. Opened in August 2025, it is combined with a Type B continuous employment support office, so people with disabilities help care for the cats and make the handmade cat goods sold in the shop, and admission fees go towards their wages. The cafe has a calm, old-house style interior where kittens and adult cats rescued with partner groups wait for new homes, and staff explain each cat's personality and how to handle them. Visits are charged by time, with lower rates for elementary and junior high school students, and families and first-time visitors are welcome. Adoptions are arranged on request through the cafe. It is closed on Tuesdays, and is busiest around midday and at weekends. Parking is available in front and nearby.
