Cat Cafes in San José

San José

El ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌Catio is a cat cafe in Barrio Escalante, San José, that calls itself a “laboratory of experiences” with rescued cats. Besides cafe visits it runs cat yoga classes, meditation, “michiterapia” (cat therapy) sessions, coworking days, talks and workshops, all among its rescued cats, of which there were about 20 in 2026. It describes itself as the first space of its kind in Costa Rica and is run by veterinarians who specialise in cats and feline behaviour. Visits are by reservation only, to keep numbers down for the cats’ sake; bookings are taken by phone, WhatsApp or Instagram.
