Critical Whiskers
Lubbock, Texas
Critical Whiskers is a hobby boutique and cat lounge on 50th Street in Lubbock, Texas. The lounge is set up like a home and serves as a foster space for cats from South Plains SPCA, which handles all adoptions, so every cat there is looking for a family. Hour-long lounge visits include a drink from the fridge or coffee bar, and reservations are recommended, with walk-ins welcome when space allows. Visitors must be at least eight years old, and each child needs an accompanying adult with their own paid entry. There is no full-service cafe, but prepackaged snacks and drinks are sold. The boutique stocks board games, role-playing games, books, hobby kits and cat-themed gifts, and a second lounge with a board game library looks into the cat room through viewing windows. Critical Whiskers also hosts book clubs and markets.
