Das Katzencafé

Das Katzencafé, also known as Cat'n'Coffee, is a cat cafe on Paulitschgasse in Klagenfurt's old town, a few minutes' walk south of Neuer Platz. Opened in November 2015 by Verena Kulterer, it was the first cat cafe in Carinthia. Ten resident cats live in the cafe and move freely between the guests; the first group came from the Klagenfurt animal shelter TiKo, and after a full change of generations the older cats retired to the homes of staff members. There is no entry fee. The kitchen serves breakfast all day, homemade cakes and savoury dishes, smoothies and ice cream alongside coffee and tea. Reservations are requested at least 12 hours ahead and a table is held for 90 minutes. The cafe also runs events such as cat yoga sessions and singles evenings, and sells vouchers, merchandise and its own coffee.
