Meowter Banks Cat Café

Meowter Banks Cat Café is the only cat cafe on the Outer Banks, on North Croatan Highway at milepost 4.5 in Kitty Hawk. It opened in 2025 and is veteran-owned and woman-owned. The cafe serves coffee, specialty drinks and pastries from local bakeries with no entry fee, and a large window looks into the cat lounge, where adoptable cats and kittens from local shelters live while they wait for homes. Lounge visits are paid by the half hour or hour, with lower rates for children aged 7 to 10, and socks or shoe covers are required. Walk-ins are taken first come, first served, but booking online or calling ahead is recommended. Guests must be 7 or older during normal hours, and children 6 and under can visit at set Saturday morning times. The cafe also sells cat-themed merchandise, offers cat boarding at the Meowtel and hosts hands-on events.
