Cat Cafes in Grand Est

Troyes, Grand Est

Troyes ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌Petits Chats is a cat cafe and tea room on Rue Général Saussier in the historic centre of Troyes, a few minutes' walk from the town hall. Opened in June 2021 by Alicia Drouin and Lucas Jacques-Canini, it occupies a small Scandinavian-style room decorated around cats, with a separate area reserved for the animals. The cats come from local rescue associations, starting with the Ecole du chat de l'Aube, and the cafe acts as their foster home, so all of them are available for adoption. A notebook at the tables tells each cat's background. The menu offers teas, coffee, hot chocolate, juices and local beers, cakes and savoury dishes at lunchtime, and there are cat-themed books, board games and a small selection of gifts whose sales support the cats. Children are welcome when accompanied.

Wiccat ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌is a small coffee shop and cat cafe in central Strasbourg, on Rue Adolphe Seyboth a few minutes' walk from the Alt Winmärik tram stop and the Petite France quarter. Its interior is decorated around a witchy, fairytale theme, and the menu leans on colourful seasonal drinks inspired by Korean and Japanese coffee shops, homemade pastries with vegan options, and weekend brunch. The cafe opened in July 2025 and works as a foster home for the association Cat'MonDoux: around four cats live among the tables while they wait for adoption, and visitors who bond with one are put in touch with the association. The room is small, so booking ahead is strongly recommended, through the online request form or by message. A small shop corner sells handmade items, and the cafe also hosts events such as tarot and astrology readings.

Chatperlipopette ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌Café is a cat cafe and tea room on Rue de Lausanne in Strasbourg's Krutenau quarter, a short walk from Place d'Austerlitz. Opened in December 2016 by Nathalie Berlot, it is the longest-running cat cafe in the city. A large group of cats lives in the jungle-themed room, along with a couple of small dogs, and the menu introduces each cat by name and temperament so visitors can recognise them. Guests ring the bell to enter and disinfect their hands at the door, then settle in with coffee, tea, milkshakes, crêpes, waffles or a light lunch while the cats move freely between the tables. The cafe is open Tuesday to Saturday afternoons, with a longer day on Wednesdays, and the owner and volunteers are happy to share the stories of the individual cats.

It opened in June 2025 and serves homemade brunch dishes, grilled cheese, granola bowls, cookies and seasonal drinks, with gluten-free and vegan options. The cafe is a foster home for three local rescues, the Ecole du chat libre des Vosges du Nord in Niederbronn, the SPA de Haguenau and Les Bitcherkatz of Bitche, and the cats in the room are up for adoption through those associations; more than 40 have found homes so far. Two resident cats, Cachou and Pitchou, stay on as mascots. Visitors disinfect their hands on arrival, let the cats come to them, keep children seated and do not share food. Table booking is available online, and the kitchen closes at 2 PM.

Opened in March 2025, it was the first cat cafe in the Haut-Rhin. Five resident cats live in the tea room, including Woody, a black and white cat with short front legs, Barney the cream Persian, Phoebe the lilac British Shorthair, young Joey and the tortoiseshell Elf; they are the cafe's own cats rather than adoptable. Visitors pay a small entry contribution towards the cats' care on top of a required order, and visits are limited to two hours. Children are welcome from age eight. The menu covers coffee, lattes, cakes and fresh homemade lunch dishes, and there are games, books and Wi-Fi for studying or working. Booking is available online.

Colmar, Grand Est

Mon ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌Chat Pitre Colmar is a general bookshop with resident cats on Place Sainte-Catherine in Colmar's old town. Opened in May 2025 by Caroline Picard, it is the first franchise of the Mon Chat Pitre 'ronron-librairie' concept that started in Aix-en-Provence. About seven rescued cats, adopted from the Pattes de Velours refuge and the SPA in Mulhouse and from an association in Aix, live in the shop and roam freely among the shelves, with baskets, toys and an overhead walkway where they can retreat from visitors. The cats are permanent residents and are not up for adoption. Entry is free; the shop stocks some 6,000 titles, including novels, comics, children's books and a cosy mystery section, along with stationery and cat-themed gifts.

Metz, Grand Est

Chalon ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌de Thé is a cat tea room on Rue de la Petite Boucherie in central Metz, a short walk from Place Saint-Louis. It opened on 8 August 2018, International Cat Day, as the first cat cafe in Lorraine, and has been under new ownership since 2022, separate from the Thionville cafe of the same name. A large group of resident cats lives in the room, including several Sphynx and other pedigree breeds alongside ordinary house cats, and staff are glad to tell visitors each cat's story. Guests come in through an airlock, wash their hands, and may stroke and photograph the cats but should not pick them up or feed them. The menu features Italian hot chocolate, homemade cookies and tiramisu, milkshakes, granitas, mocktails and sandwiches. The cafe is open every afternoon and can be booked for private events.

Thionville, Grand Est

Chalon ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌de Thé Thionville is a cat tea room on Rue des Deux Places in Thionville's pedestrian centre, about 30 km north of Metz near the Luxembourg border. It opened in summer 2024, run by Mehdi Mimeche, who founded the original Chalon de Thé in Metz in 2018 and is now a cat behaviourist and veterinary assistant, with his wife Jalila. The room is styled as an indoor jungle with shelters, cabins and climbing and resting spaces for a large group of cats of many different breeds. Visitors enjoy Italian coffee and hot chocolate, iced coffee cream, cocktails, pastries and light meals among the cats, with a minimum spend per person that goes towards the cats' upkeep. The cafe also runs animal-assisted therapy workshops, talks and corporate events, and is open every day.

Chalons en Champagne, Grand Est

Le ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌Bar à Papattes is a cat tea room in the Croix Dampierre commercial area on the south-east side of Châlons-en-Champagne, with free parking next door. Opened in autumn 2022 by Maryline Moncuit, it was the first cat cafe in the town. The cats belong to a partner rescue association and live in the cafe while waiting for a home, so all of them can be adopted, and a notebook at the tables presents each one. Visitors put on overshoes and use hand gel at the entrance, and the cats decide when to approach: they should not be woken, picked up or fed. Homemade cakes and biscuits, a choice of teas and local apple juice are served. Guests who do not order pay a small access fee that goes to the cats, and the room is small, so it can fill up during school holidays.

Opened at the start of 2026, it is run by volunteers of the cat rescue association Chat'ouille, and the profits go to the association's work. A few rescued cats live among the bookshelves while they wait for adoption, and the volunteers can also introduce visitors to the cats still at the association's shelter.
