Denver Cat Company
Denver, Colorado
Denver Cat Company is a cat cafe on historic Tennyson Street in Denver's Berkeley neighborhood, set among boutiques and restaurants. Opened in 2014 by attorney Leila Qari, it was one of the first cat cafes in the United States. All of its cats, usually around 20, come from its sister nonprofit, Denver Cat Rescue, which pulls cats from high-kill shelters in underfunded states, and every cat is available for adoption; the two have placed more than 6,000 cats. The lounge was built to Kate Benjamin's cat cafe design, with ceiling-level walkways and hiding spots so the cats can choose when to seek attention. A single entry fee covers a visit for as long as you like, space permitting, and online booking is available. Drinks and basic packaged snacks are sold, 10 percent of sales goes to the rescue, and gift cards and memberships are offered.

Teddy Cat Cafe
Denver, Colorado
Teddy Cat Cafe is a cat cafe and kitty mercantile on East Florida Avenue just off South Broadway, near Platt Park in south Denver. Owner Sarah partners with several local rescues and shelters and fosters the cats on site, focusing on cats that are often overlooked, such as seniors, bonded pairs and under-socialized cats. Visitors book a playdate with the adoptable cats, and the fee includes a complimentary coffee or tea while it pays for the cats' care; all adoption fees go back to the partner groups. Guests can also browse a curated shop of clothing, art and cat-themed gifts. Appointments are strongly recommended, each person in a group needs their own booking, and the last hour of the day must be reserved in advance. Children six and up are welcome with an adult, with at most two children per adult. Cat yoga and other events are held.
