Kfe en Taza is a cat cafe on Avenida Urdaneta in central Caracas, diagonally across from the CICPC headquarters and a few blocks from Parque Carabobo. Opened in 2020 by animal rescuer Carol Mateus, it is widely described as the first cat cafe in Venezuela. A group of rescued resident cats, eight at last count, roam the cafe and have a door to a quiet area where they can retreat from guests, and visitors are asked not to feed them. There is no entry fee; guests order from a menu of about 25 coffee drinks, desserts such as brownies and cookies, and savoury dishes. Profits pay for sterilisation drives and street-cat rescues, and the cafe rehomes rescued cats: adopters bring their ID, a printed RIF and a carrier. Mugs and cat products are sold to raise funds.
