Berkeley Springs, West Virginia
Give Purrs A Chance is a nonprofit cat adoption center and cat cafe in a two-story Victorian house on Independence Street in Berkeley Springs, a short walk from the town's historic spa park. Opened in May 2017, it takes in vetted, spayed and neutered cats and kittens from four regional rescue organizations and lets them roam freely through the house, where they mix with visitors and with each other while they wait for adoption. It is one of the largest cat cafes in the country by floor space and usually has a large number of cats in residence, including a dedicated kitten room. Visitors pay a low admission fee, with a reduced rate for young children, which gives all-day access, and no appointment is needed. The house also has the Catique Boutique, selling vintage and new cat-themed items alongside work by local artists, and a kitten cam online.
