Zur Mieze

Zur Mieze is a cat and music cafe on the northern end of Wilmersdorfer Straße in Charlottenburg, near the U7 Richard-Wagner-Platz station. Biologist and pianist Caroline Braune opened it in November 2015, and a piano stands among the tables for occasional concerts. Six rescued cats live in the cafe, some of them from war zones. They are permanent residents rather than cats for adoption, and they can withdraw at any time to a rest room that guests may not enter. The cafe is small, with seven tables, and staff assign seats; booking by phone is recommended on weekends, in school holidays and on cold days. House rules are strict: sleeping cats must not be disturbed, and children are admitted from age 10. The menu has homemade cakes, vegan and vegetarian options, small snacks and four French-press coffees. Payment is cash only, and gift vouchers can be bought online.
