Ubasti Cat Café & Lounge is Chennai's first cat cafe, opened in late 2025 in the Uthandi area along the East Coast Road. Founded by Dr Tasmia Papa, the cafe is dedicated to rehoming rescued cats through an experiential adoption process. All resident cats are rescues, and the cafe follows up with adopters for at least a year after adoption. The menu features cat-themed items including the Egyptian Mau Espresso, Ginger Tabby Chai, and Bengal Jim Jam Shake. The cafe also offers grooming services for dogs and cats, and hosts creative workshops including paint-with-cats sessions.
