The Casual Cat Cafe
The Casual Cat Cafe was a cat cafe that operated from 2017 until September 2026 in a converted house on Glenview Drive in Richland Hills, northeast of Fort Worth. Owner Cindy Pennington, who had fostered cats for rescues for years, started it as a calmer alternative to pet-store adoption events, and by April 2026 it had helped with 892 adoptions. Around 15 adoptable cats from partner rescues and shelters such as Noah's Paws roamed the lounge, all vaccinated, spayed or neutered and tested for FIV and FeLV, with the full adoption fee going to the sponsoring group. Admission was $15 plus tax for an hour, with monthly memberships and online booking encouraged, and the cafe area overlooking the lounge was free. It sold Keurig coffee, cocoa, tea, sodas and packaged snacks, allowed outside food, offered private cat boarding and hosted yoga, painting and crafting sessions with cats. When its landlord declined to renew the lease, it closed at this address at the end of September 2026 after about 940 adoptions, planning to reopen at a new location.

Whiskers and Soda Cat Cafe
Dallas, Texas31 mi / 50 km
Whiskers and Soda is a cat cafe on Garland Road near White Rock Lake in East Dallas. Rob and Caroline Stovall opened it in March 2023 to support A Voice For All Paws, the nonprofit rescue whose cats live there, usually about 15 adults plus kittens in a separate Kitten Tree Room, all vetted and available for adoption. Walk-in rates are $16 an hour for adults and $8 for children, with additional hours at half price; walk-ins depend on space, so reservations are recommended, and monthly members can book further ahead at lower rates. The coffee bar serves cat-named drinks such as the Cappurrccino along with pastries and snacks. House rules ask guests to let the cats approach them, keep shoes off or wear covers, keep noise down and avoid camera flash, and children under 6 must be supervised. Adoptions require an indoor-only home with no declawing. Its sister business, Griffin Rock Cat Retreat, offers cat boarding in the same building. It is closed on Mondays.
