Shanghai City Cat Island
Shanghai City Cat Island is the city's stray-cat management and adoption centre, set in a converted former kindergarten inside Shengzhai Park in Gucun, Baoshan, with the main park entrance at Shenglian Road and Taihe West Road. Several hundred neutered and vaccinated former strays live in a free-roaming, cage-free compound of about 1,765 square metres, alongside a care unit for kittens and older cats. Entry is free after registering on site, with a daily visitor limit; a small cat science hall charges a fee that goes to food and neutering. The centre runs adoptions, volunteer days and public education on responsible pet keeping. The second phase is open only to booked workshop groups at weekends.
