Paka Café
Paka Café is a small street cat cafe in the Malindi Funguni area of Stone Town, a short walk from the ferry terminal, on the ground floor of the restored Al Munar building, where the novelist Abdulrazak Gurnah grew up. It is run next door to Paka Clinic, a charity clinic that sterilises and treats Stone Town's street cats, and every purchase supports that work. Resident cats and street cats that drop in share the space, and a seating corner the cafe calls Kitten TV gives guests a front-row view of the cats. The cafe serves coffee, fresh juices, muffins, samosas and vegetarian dishes, and has Wi-Fi for working. Staff look after the cats, and the clinic also runs walking tours about the island's street cats. Furnished flats upstairs can be rented to support the charity.
