Neko Sun Cafe

Neko Sun Cafe is a rescue cat cafe on the Hongo shopping street in Shiroishi Ward, Sapporo, about five minutes on foot from Nango-7-chome Station on the Tozai Line. It opened in 2016 and is run by the NPO Nyapan Cat Rescue, which takes in cats from multi-cat hoarding cases and the city animal management centre and puts the cafe's income toward their food and medical care. The converted two-storey building has an adoption and rescue desk on the ground floor and the cat room upstairs, where a group of people-friendly rescue cats, including Scottish Folds, Minuets and Japanese mixes, act as staff while they wait for new homes. Visits are charged per 30 or 60 minutes with short extensions, and a weekday free-time plan is offered. Drinks are bought separately and socks are required. The group also holds adoption events at its own shelter nearby.
