Neko
Neko is a bar à chats and tea room on Rue Royale in central Orléans, the arcaded street that runs from Place du Martroi down towards the Loire. It opened in May 2024 as the city's first cat cafe, run by two young Orléanaises, and spreads over three levels fitted with cat trees, wall shelves and scratching furniture. Up to eight cats live in the cafe at a time, all from a local cat welfare association and all up for adoption, with the adoption fee going to the association. Visitors wash their hands and wait in an entry airlock before being let in, and may stroke the cats but not pick them up or wake them. Each visitor orders at least one item. The menu covers homemade cakes such as carrot cake and chocolate lava cake, savoury snacks and local drinks, with brunch on Sundays by reservation.

Versailles, Ile De France63 mi / 101 km
Mon Chat Pitre Versailles is a general bookshop in central Versailles where rescued cats live among the shelves, part of the Mon Chat Pitre network of 'ronron-librairies' founded in Aix-en-Provence in 2021. It opened in spring 2026. The cats, all from shelters and rescue associations, roam freely, sleep in the displays and come to greet browsers, and they have their own space to retreat to. They are permanent residents rather than adoptable cats, and the shop uses its following to promote cats waiting for homes in local associations. There is no cafe or entry fee: visitors come to browse, ask the booksellers for recommendations, order titles not in stock, and spend time with the cats. The shop also sells cat-themed accessories and gifts.
