Mekhovoye Kafe

Mekhovoye Kafe ("Fur Cafe") is a cat time-cafe on Ulitsa Akademika Korolyova in central Kaluga, near Tsiolkovsky Park; the entrance is from the courtyard. Running since 2015, it was the city's first cat cafe. About 20 cats live there, all from the Territoriya Koshek shelter, and they arrive vaccinated, sterilised and litter-trained; visitors who bond with a cat can adopt it. Visits are charged per person for the first hour and then by the minute, with a cap after three hours, lower rates for children and higher rates at weekends; tea, coffee and biscuits are unlimited. Guests remove outerwear, change shoes and use hand sanitiser, may photograph without flash and feed the cats only treats sold at the cafe. Children under 12 must be accompanied. There are board games and a non-alcoholic bar.
