Lazy Cat Lounge
Lazy Cat Lounge is a small coffee shop, gift shop and cat lounge on Merrimack Street in downtown Lowell. Opened in March 2025 as the city's first cat cafe, it has a separate cat room furnished like a Victorian library, where usually 10 to 12 cats live: four permanent residents and adoptable cats from Happy Tails Pet Rescue, which handles adoptions. Cat room time is booked by the hour online, with lower rates for students, seniors and veterans, and walk-ins are taken when there is space. Children under 8 are not allowed in the cat room, which closes daily from 2 to 3 PM so the cats can rest. The cafe serves Atomic Coffee and local baked goods that can be taken in with the cats, and anyone can visit the gift shop and watch through the windows. It also hosts kitty yoga and game nights.
